How to submit supplemental recs?

A professor from a summer course has written me a supplemental rec. Most of the schools I'm interested in have an option for submitting additional recs under "Recommenders and FERPA", but several schools don't, though they claim to allow supplemental recs on their websites (like Brown, Princeton, and Yale.)

Should the professor mail the rec to each of those schools? (I read somewhere recs should be submitted either completely online or completely off-line.) If so, can my professor mail the rec now? (It seems quite early, even though I plan to apply to Yale EA.)

Thanks!

No, you can mail them. I would wait to send them closer to the application submit date.

I know that Yale requires supplemental recs to be mailed, and they have special instructions (see: <a href=“Supplementary Materials | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions”>Supplementary Materials | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions). Not sure about the other two - you should check out their websites, but yes, you’ll probably have to mail them.

“I read somewhere recs should be submitted either completely online or completely off-line.” This is incorrect. They are competent enough to upload both online and scanned hard copies. That would be a rather stupid attitude to enforce.
