I noticed in a 2012 UPenn admission guide that for ED admissions, applicants need to also send in tax returns on that November 1st, and RD applicants need to submit tax returns March 1st (FAFSA is April 15).

How would I send in the tax returns if I apply?.

They include the fax number and email address for financial aid when you are admitted. We emailed it, easy.

@picktails - I don’t think you understand my question.

I am not talking about the FAFSA forms for all students who are admitted; I am talking about the tax returns that are submitted when you apply.

When you apply to UPenn ED, the deadline is November 1st for:

Penn Financial Aid Supplement (PFAS)
CSS/Profile
Parents’ and student’s federal tax returns-all pages, schedules, and W-2s, and/or a Tax ID Form

Where do we submit the above 3 things? Again, note that this is not the FAFSA forms you send in after you are admitted.

I think it is through the Penn Admissions portal. Do we get the username and password for that once we send in our app to the school?

Nvm. “After Admissions processes both your Application and your Penn Application Supplement, you will receive an email with your User Name and Password for the MyPenn Applicant Portal. If you apply online, you should receive an email within a few days. If you apply on paper, it may take longer. The Applicant Portal will provide secure access to your application status, and the Penn Financial Aid Supplement (PFAS). For questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.”

Ah, I see. We actually missed that part, and emailed the tax forms AFTER she was accepted. Maybe give them a call if you really want an answer now. BTW, their financial aid is EXTREMELY generous!

Every college does this differently. You can just email the financial aid office if it isn’t clear how they want them sent. Not sure about Penn, but we have had colleges who wanted forms via US mail, fax, .pdf, and (not for ED, but later) the dreaded paper-intensive IDOC service. Just ask them.
