How to write a begging letter...

Has anyone ever written an email to a lab//professor asking for an internship?
I'm thinking of trying to find one, but I have no idea how to ask!
One of them is to my absolute DREAM internship, in a genetics lab that really only accepts college students. The other would be to a professor at a local med school asking if he would take me on.
Anyone else ever do it? Anyone know what kind of email I should send? How do you sound mature in an email? I try but I always sound like a robot.

Introduce yourself and state your purpose. [My name is…I study at…] Outline your qualifications [Over the summer I did this awesome internship. It totally made me want to learn more. Since then, I have dedicated myself to these projects…] Show that you understand the professor’s studies. [Through my experience, I found your lab through…I really like your special focus on…] Link it back to your purpose [because your lab is so awesome, I’d really like to intern there.] State your flexibility. [I am eager to help out at your lab. My hours are flexible] End with more qualifications to emphasize your awesomeness [Attached is my resume. Please contact me should you have questions] Sign your name [Hannahbanana69] Put a wink at the end of 69. Jk don’t do that.
