Writing supplement essays can be hard and sometimes frustrating because one has to express his/her uniqueness and strong interest in only 1500 characters (~250 words).

Let's make a list on writing good supplement essays!

-never say what-what college is prestige.
-never say my parents want me to go there.

I say be creative.
For a lot of universities there may be two questions. I have found with a few schools that one is more along the lines of “why do you want to attend such and such” or “what are your career goals” or “what truly excites your intellect”…ect. In these cases, the other question is often a bit more open to interpretation, and I think that is the time to do something other than show your intellectual abilities and explain how much you love whatever school. I could be completely wrong, but I think the idea is to look at the multiple supplements together to give a well-rounded picture of yourself, the essays can work in conjunction, one showing your intellect and straightforward interest, the other capturing their attention through unique creativity. Tell me if I am wrong…:)

Many schools of course, do not offer this one-two punch. They have 1 essay or multiple essays with very specific and strange prompts. If that is the case, trust your gut, perhaps attempt to combine the creative with the directly intellectual.
