I have received a lot of letters and brochures encouraging me to apply to U of Richmond, but never thought I would have much of a shot. What kind of grades and SAT scores is Richmond looking for? And how tough would it be to get in from out of state?

it's private i guess you didn't know that doesn't matter your location, i wouldn't apply to a school if you didnt' know if its public or private, do research youll find your anwsers

University of Richmond Average SAT Scores (25%-75%): 610-690 for Critical Reading, 630-700 for Math, and although it is not specifically said, there is a chart on their website that suggests the middle 25%-75% on writing is about the same as the Critical Reading. The average high school GPA is 3.5- it's not easy to get into so I assume that is an unweighted 3.5. It ranks #34 Nationally out of all Liberal Arts Colleges.

UR has many more women apply than men. Acceptance rate for women is about 44%. For men it's 54%.

Richmond is a beautiful campus in a nice part of town. The beach is only two hours away. Academics are above average, just not on this website ;)

URichmond is ranked #34 by US News & World Report among Liberal Arts institutions.

Its academic peers are: #30 Lafayette College (PA), #30 Trinity College (CT), #32 Kenyon College (OH), #32 College of the Holy Cross (MA), #34 Sewanee—University of the South (TN), #36 Bard College (NY), #39 Union College (NY), 39 Connecticut College, Dickinson College (PA), Gettysburg College (PA), and others.

Approximately one half of URichmond applicants are offered admission (47% for overall acceptance rate & 55% early decision applicants accepted).

Approximately seventy five percent (75%) of applicants accepted at URichmond elect to attend another school which indicates that it is seen by most accepted students as a "safety school" (2,743 accepted but only 772 enrolled).

Only 4% ot Richmonds student body is African-American.

FYI- my d was admitted last fall.........we received at least one, maybe two, (I can't remember) what I call "wink" letters. The letters said something like, "you're great, we like you, bla bla and look for good news soon in your mailbox from us". So, we read that as we were in..I figured it would be pretty mean to say something like that and then get a rejection letter.
However, that was LAST fall, and things could be completely different this year.....................just wanted to let you know.....I'm sorry, I can't remember what month the letters came.
But, you never know with this stuff. We got two letters from William and Mary asking for more detailed information for financial aid, and we thought it meant maybe she got admitted there, but she got rejected.......go figure.
Good luck everyone.
