How hard is it to get into University of Richmond?

I’ve heard SO many mixed things about getting into UofR. On the website, it seems like a really competitive school to get into. I saw somewhere that about 750-something/800-something enrolled have straight A’s, the GPA is very high, and the ACT/SAT is also very high. However, I talked to about 10 people admitted, some from my school and some not, and they said that it was not competitive at all. They got a good mix of A’s and B’s, had ok ACT scores, good essays, and great letters of rec.

To those who were admitted, what are your stats, and what do you think stood out in your application to get accepted.

I am a rising junior at UR who is on a full tuition scholarship as part of the Richmond Scholars program.

UR is indeed a competitive school with an acceptance rate that fluctuates somewhere around 30-35%.

However, you definitely don’t need straight As to be admitted. UR is holistic in its admissions and considers the whole person. I had mainly Bs in my academic classes (even a C+), although all my classes were honors or AP (except music). I didn’t even have a 4.0 weighted, but I went to an extremely competitive and well known STEM magnet school (often ranked number one in the country). My SATs were in the 1900s and I got a 33 on the ACT (35 or 36 on every section but reading…)

I did have excellent ECs however. Even though I’m a STEM major, I’m very into performing arts. I was in 9 performing ensembles my senior year, plus danced at a local dance studio (since I was 4). I’d participated in summer music programs and had state level music awards (including first in my district and first in the state on my instrument). I also took 7 music courses over the course of my high school career.

@guineagirl96 thank you so much for your response, I’m so glad to hear that I actually have a chance!
