I managed to get As in AP Comp Sci and a 5 on the AP test but I'm sure the college classes are a hell of a lot harder. Also I'm good but not great at logic which I think is what CS is all about(ie. I got an 82 on last year's AMC 12). How do you think I'd do in this course.

The CS major at UCLA -

First year wasn't too bad. Of course they were just introductory classes.. I didn't take AP comp sci in high school (is that Java?) but still do pretty well in all the classes so far. Obviously, the projects take a lot of time, but the professors definitely give you a reasonable time frame to complete them. A lot of the "over-achieving" CS majors finish them days before they are do.

Basically depends how much you enjoy actual programming and how fast you can learn. Just take the classes - if you do well in them, great. If you don't, then you can always make a change.

AP CS A or AB?
anyways, CS 31 and 32 were very similar to AP CS except it's in C++ so there's a few new things

OH WOW ITS GRARK! where have you been all my life

:D I've been hanging around.
you're the one that's usually not here :P

Here as in... CC or LA.

:P

Btw, heroes in rieber vista, don't miss out.

Thanks for the replies so far. Could you cs guys tell me some of your math and cs scores in high school as well as amc scores so i have something to compare myself against?

You should be getting 100+ in the AMC 10/12.

There were some crazy AMC scores from our school and the magnet school nearby, haha. But they went off to MIT and such.. I think I scored around 116

haha both :P

You have an advantage if you got a 5 on the AP test. I know of some CS majors that didn't even realize CS was available at the high school level.
But I took CS 31 with no CS/CSE majors (Rohr took a poll) and although some had previous programming experience, man some of them could kick my ass in that class >.<

0_0 last time I heard about AMC was in elementary school (maybe I wasn't listening)
