I second MechaSnoopy and stopthepresses - where the deuce were the major, monumental periods in European history? The things I made a huge point to study and understand weren't even on the test... Does anyone else feel like this was one of the most uncomprehenisve tests they've ever taken?

like napoleon... i could be wrong... but i don't remember a single question on him at all

yeah gar, you're right!

I found euro was one of the APs i was taking that I was definately most worried about. I never like mc so i can't say if it was easy or not; the last ten were all modern times and i didn't study that as hard. The FR i thot was easier, but i always think its easy. After i wrote the DBQ i wanted to rewrite it, rearranging my paragraphs, and so that was disappointing but i'm still pretty sure my DBQ was good. I did 4 and 5 for the FR, but for 4 it was to analyze the problems and oppurtunites of rapid urbanization and I think I mostly listed instead, but I hope that's okay. Five was pretty easy, and my hand was hurting so much by the end of it. I really hope I did fine and my fingers are crossed for a 5.

~Vint.

Soooo... it's 12 noon central time. FRQ time? Or do we have to wait?

I WANNA DISCUSSS
my dbq effin SUCKED balls. i'm pretty sure i got a fricken 5 on it :

just do it. who really cares? i would engage myself in this conversation, but i'm cramming bio today.

Well, if I'm not supposed to, somebody stop me and I will - for now :)
But,
WHAT THE DEUCE WAS THAT DBQ? I really loved the two part question and then the sentence or two of background info. Were we supposed to mention specific rearing practices or just provide insight into how the people would treat kids?

i hated the dbq. i think my groups are kinda dumb because i found a lack of groups in the documents. it was really weird and really dumb.

I really didn't find grouping the documents that bad, but I really did not know what I was supposed to do. Then I ran over on time on the DBQ and had to write FRQ 7 in about 18 minutes. Which FRQs did you do and how do you think you fared?

i did the fall of the soviet system and the prevention of germanic unification.
soviet system wasn't bad, pretty easy but i kept thinking when i was writing it so i kinda messed up organization. i expect like a 6.
germanic unification or the 30 years war was pretty ok. i messed up the timeframe of which the peace of augsburg was signed and just wasnt thinking when i should have said that the north alligned against the south lead by the emperor, instead i specified that the emperor was charles V, which it was not and I knew that. so because of those mistakes probably a 4/5. w/e, i don't really care because i know i nailed the mc. dbq is questionable. what groups did you choose for the dbq? i basically picked 2 groups for each part of the question, so 4 groups.

I hope the grading does go easy since many of us thought the dbq and multiple choice was hard.
i did #4 and #6 and i thought i did REALLY good on them (expecting 8s)
the dbq was complete b/s for me. i grouped them: they loved the children and so thought they should be treated with respect and kindness etc, they thoguht the children were creatures who shuld be treated with whippings and beatings and punishments in order to make them better people, and then people who thought chidlren should be treated with a balance.

i think i got apoint off for grouping since my last group only had two docs, one of which was a misinterpreted one :

Okay...this is my first post, but I really want to talk about this with people.

I grouped the documents as follows:

People who believed children respond to force/duress
People who believed children respond to reason
People who believed children respond to God/theology
People who believed children developed on their own just fine

I then talked about how those in Group 2 were mostly philosophers (Rousseau never having children was a big POV thing for me), how clergymen for the most part were in the third group, and that the other groups were diverse, but representative of the differing opinions and how they were influenced individually (Henry IV by his own upbringing, Marquis by his lack of children, etc.) I then summed up by saying that the parents, like the children they raised, were products of their own experience and ideas, and raised their offspring based on the perceptions ingrained into them during their own childhood.

It was about five pages...any thoughts?

I think you nailed the DBQ :)
you probably got the 6 core points

i think i screwed up the groups and am gonna lose the point for that, which sucks.

since the question asked for both views and practices i did:

views:
positive view-children are rational, children are capable
negative view- children are subcreatures, children are awkward

practices:
beating-beat the children to make them behave
promotion of learning, rationality-love the children, teach them to pray, encourage learning

Hooray! I talked about all the documents except 1, so...fingers crossed!

I did 4 and 6 on the FRQs, thought they were really broad.

I'm so relieved about this test...I was sweating it for a while.
Multiple Choice left out things I thought they would touch on...NO GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS?!

neglect
lovable
needed to be disciplined

that is how i broke it up

Well, I did something different (not that much though!) I'd really want to hear what you all think about it.

DBQ: I really focused on how as Europe proceeded further, the focus from religion based child rearing turned into something based-on-reasonings. That was my kinda main topic.
Then of course, I talked about the three groups: the strict and free way, and then again, the mixed way........and all the time I tried to show how the God-influence in child rearing had some new ingredients, by documents 11 and 12 (those rousseau and the other one). I pretty much used almost all the documents, and as I used them I just gave a big cross on each! so, yeah, I always try to use all of them.
In my last para, I kinda hinted how during the Indus Rev, the whole religious based focus disappeared and completely secular view was prevalent. (DBQ was 4 pages front and back)

SO, what do you think abt it? :)

asif i think yours was good, seeing that you applied change over time in it...

what was the Russia document talking about? was it beatingyour kids?

which one? I hardly looked at the countries while doing it, can u give some more info on that russian doc?
