As an alum interviewer, I just wondered, for those of you who had one, how it went. What were your thoughts? Any comments, suggestions? Did you get what you needed from the interview? It is a 2 way street, and wanted to be sure the applicants found it helpful.

I had a lovely phone interview, but I’m a little confused because my interviewer only asked me about what classes I am currently taking and what extracurricular activities I’m active in. Is this typically normal for a Vassar interview? I did do my best to slip in why I’m interested in Vassar since she didn’t ask me why.

There is no standard for the interview. There are some suggested questions that we can ask, but its really an opportunity to talk more about who you are as a person, as well as ask questions of the interviewer as well. I am sure yours was fine!

Mine was great. We met at a Starbucks in the city and exchanged questions for about an hour. It was really a lot about getting to know what the experience at Vassar would be like. We also discussed my current classes and interests as well as other colleges I applied to (I made it clear Vassar was my first). In all, the interview was pretty casual and stress free. I found it extremely helpful since I got an idea of what life was like after Vassar. I was impressed that the alums liked their alma mater so much that they are willing to do this service.

I applied EDII and was accepted.

congratulations!

Ah, that’s really good to know! Thank you! :]

You are very welcome. Good luck!
