How well credited is UCLA?

UCLA is not a so-so school by any standards.

And I don't know that anyone here thinks you're a retard. Retards aren't usually as arrogant as you are.

Of course, you're probably going to try to defend yourself by saying how you aren't arrogant, and that you were just saying that you want to go to Wharton and not Anderson, but we've already been over that.

But feel free to prove me wrong by shutting the f*** up at any time.

think whatever you want jam3rz.
It's understandable for students to feel strong pride in their school.

But first of all, go work on your english comprehension skill.
I can see that you know how to read, but is having a hard time comprehending the meaning behind it.

Arrogant = "I can go to Wharton anytime I want. UCLA is just a cheap school, i can get in there anytime I want. It's below my standard."

If you thought this was what I said, you are the one that needs to shut the f*** up and go back to middle school and improve your comprehension skill.

Quite possibly the most arrogant/cocky community college student I've encountered...

im sorry if that statement sounded too cocky, but i was just expressing my confidence. :)

By your track record it seems unwarranted.

And you accomplished just that, in addition to betraying your not-so-latent insecurity to a hostile message board...which by the way wouldn't have been, had you not been so quick to denounce UCLA as a second-rate institution.

I have some advice for you. While Wharton and other 'elite' (and I quote) business schools may be looking for someone with your cojones, or lack thereof, I can assure you that the working world is not going to tolerate a lick of arrogance, especially coming from a corporate consultant. I suggest you lose it now, because all you're going to gain from it are dirty looks and harsh words.

Also, you'd better have one HELL of an activities list coming out of CC if you want to go to Wharton....that's in addition to REALLY being able to write...something I haven't seen much evidence of in your posts.

I'll get in.
UCLA Bus. Econ is one of the hardest major to get into, and I also tried very very hard. I've talked to lots of students from cc who got admitted to bus. econ, and also the counselors, and after seeing my stats and all, they say I have a VERY good chance of getting in.

so yeah, why be so pessimistic?
It's always good to be optimistic and be confident about your future ;)

there's a fine line between healthy optimism and naivete.

So I'm going to assume your stats are stellar and your counselors really know what they're talking about....(which is rarely the case, as probably everyone on this board can attest to).

i consider mine healthy optimism.

Thanx for the advice though :)

no offense, but people like you often experience disappointment. i dont even know your stats. im going to assume you have a 4.5+ and a 2300+ SAT with every good EC. even then, you are NOT guaranteed to UCLA. will you most likely get in? yes. still, i know people with those stats who didnt get in. its a random process. and somehow i doubt your stats are that high.

namaste, there's one thing you don't realize:

I'm TRANSFERRING.

Please don't transfer to UCLA dhl3, you're going to make us look bad.

Michael.
Grow up.
Personal Bashing doesn't make you look cool.

"If you thought this was what I said, you are the one that needs to shut the f*** up and go back to middle school and improve your comprehension skill."

Quite the hypocrite.

I only attack those who attack me first.
You just want to "join in with the crowd" without reading half the posts here.
Now I suggest you to be quiet, and if you got no helpful advice, then just go away.

so what you're transferring. do you have straight As in the honors track at santa monica college? if not, you're not guaranteed.

dhl3,
You're one to assume too. I've read every single post in this topic since the day it was created. I'd rather be among peers who are proud to go to UCLA and want to use the university to their fullest advantage...not someone who thinks UCLA is a "so so university compared to Wharton."

My helpful advice: Go to USC.

Anyways, I'm going to stop adding fuel to this diminishing fire. That's all from me : )

LOL! SMC!

Naw, I go to College of the Canyons, which has the highest transfer rate in the entire Los Angeles County.

And no, I don't have straight A's. In fact, my GPA is below the average of the admitted students of Bus. Econ (3.71), but I'm planning on raising it up to 3.83 by the end of this fall, so I think I got a great chance.
Yeah, my GPA isn't that great, but really, it's not horrendously horrible either. And even I myself can't be 100% sure that I'll get in to the major, so i got a back-up major: Economics/International Area studies, which is slightly easier.

I'm not guaranteed of course. No one's guaranteed, as you've said, but really, I got a great chance. I know it.

Yup, I still have to try hard. UCLA (especially the bus. econ major) is not an easy school to get in, it's actually one of the hardest school to get in. But I'm making a progress, and I'm pretty confident.

what's wrong with SMC? it has the highest transfer rate to UCLA. i dont know much about canyons except it's in valencia next to magic mountain.

Well, namaste.
To tell you the truth, I made a real stupid mistake of considering to attend SMC instead of COC, so I visited there...

Woah.. let's just say, I really didn't like it. So ever since then, I completely abandoned the thought of ever attending there.

And really, going to SMC doesn't give you any advantage. COC has just as much benefits.

Both SMC and COC have transfer alliance program with UCLA, both have honors program, and both have very high transfer rate.

The reason SMC has so many students transferring over to UCLA than any other school is simple: it has the largest population of students out of all CCC's, and the number of people who apply to UCLA is the largest there.

However, as CardinalFocused pointed out, it also has the largest number of rejects. I dunno the exact number, but I believe about 1600 ppl applied to UCLA, and like 600 made it? that's about 1000 getting rejected.

So conclusion: There's nothing wrong with SMC, but at the same time, there's nothing great about it also.
