<p>With the caveat that you’d need to do some kind of sociologically valid test to get the real answer, my own personal stab would be:</p>

<li><p>Within the people posting on this board, they’re probably somewhat known.</p></li>
<li><p>Within the broad population - even the relatively sophisticated part of it, like professionals - they’re hardly known at all. On a scale of 0-100, Oxford and Cambridge would be at 90, London School of Economics would be at 60 and your guys would be at 10.</p></li>
<li><p>On the other hand, “University of London” sounds like it’s something, just based on the name, even if you don’t have any idea what it is.</p></li>
</ul>
<p>Quality education, generally won’t open any more doors in this country than any other college degree. Imperial in certain circles might be worth something, but generally in the same boat as everything outside of Oxbridge and LSE.</p>
<p>Those who know something about British education would rate ICL/UCL/KCL as approximately equal (with ICL being potentially above the other two in some circles) and below Oxbridge+LSE. Maybe on par with Vandy/Rice/Emory.</p>
