How will a B+ in a weighted class affect my chances?

I earned a B+ in Honors Chemistry my sophomore year of high school. Assuming I get straight A’s for the rest of high school, how does this impact my chances of getting into a good college? 6 of my 7 courses for junior year are going to be weighted, and some of my college goals are UCSD, UC Berkeley, Boston University, etc. Not as difficult to get in to as an Ivy League, but still considerable.

Also, my weighted GPA is still above a 4.0, but my unweighted GPA is now 3.8 (or something). Do colleges take unweighted GPAs as seriously? Thanks!

Generally, private schools look at UW GPA more than weighted because weighting systems vary from high school to high school. Private schools evaluate your transcript based on the rigor of the courses you took vs. the courses available at your high school.

The UCs will look at your UC GPA which is calculated using sophomore + junior year grades in UC approved courses. More info on UC GPA here: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/q-and-a/calculating-gpa/

Long story short: one B+ is not going to get you rejected.
