So for my entire high school I've been a pretty solid A student with a couple B's. Junior year I had the horrible mistake of taking honors chemistry... honestly i did everything i could to get by in that class with a tutor and everything but it was like rocket science to me- no joke. i barely passed chem honors with a C.

I got all A's in my classes including A's in two AP's and one B and one C in chem honors... both semesters.
I have a lot of EC's including club president, internships, volunteer.. etc. etc. my sat's are okay (500-600 rage as of this moment) and i'm hoping it'll go up october.

plus i'm taking more honors and AP's senior year which i'm confident about because i actually like the subjects and i just know i won't get a C.

bottom line... how bad will a C look? technically it counted as a B since it is an honors source but i mean it's still a C... i haven't gotten a C since the 6th grade :/

Plus my school is known to have rigorous academics ( i don't know if that goes into account in the admission process)

Depends if the colleges you’re applying to use weighted GPA’s, and if you want to be a science major. If the answers are yes and no, respectively, you should be fine.

Wow! I have a very similar situation to you: I took AP Chemistry in my junior year first semester and dropped it with a C+. (Teacher’s policy is to only keep A and B students.) Unfortunately, I proceeded to get a C in Pre-Calculus also…>_<; I do dislike the math/science field. Check out my thread to see my grades if you’d like:

Overall though, I still have a shred of hope at least…if your EC’s are strong and you can bring up your test scores, and your interest is not math/science, I don’t think it will matter much. I talked to my counselor about this in the spring and she told me as long as I take challenging courses my senior year to show colleges I’m not slacking off again, then I’ll be okay…good luck!
