<p>This summer I have the opportunity to be an intern at a local law office. How will this look on college applications? I mean, I know it'll look good, but how much weight will it carry?</p>

<p>Not a lot of weight. Most law/finance interns are basically family connections.</p>
<p>Also, law office “intern” work for non-law students or paralegals is confined to simple research, copying and filing.</p>
<p>You’d get more volunteering at a summer camp.</p>
<p>Agree with the others. Better than spending all summer playing Xbox or watching reruns of Boy Meets World. Not any better than any other summer job.</p>
<p>Yeah, the main benefit is that it shows that you’re doing stuff during the summer rather than doing nothing.</p>
