<p>i don't think they really look at it either way. i think it is actually looked at by section. the out of 1600/2400 stuff i think is mostly to tell our friends...if you get my drift.</p>
<p>the better question is how much the writing will weigh. it seems like it'll be M+V (1400) + writing as a sort of SAT II. However, we don't know how much SAT I nor SAT II weighs in the process (and it various b/w schools) so I wouldn't worry about it. </p>
<p>Georgetown is the only school OFFICIALLY ignoring writing.</p>
