ok my friend and i were having an argument. basically from beginning of freshman yr until end of jr year, i have had 2 B's. these 2 b's however are only from chemistry; i got a B in 2nd semester of just normal chemistry in soph yr and a B in first semester of jr year in AP chemistry. my arguing is that when colleges look at my B's, they are going to understand that I am just not that good at chemistry but strong in every other subject. my friend however is arguing that it doesnt matter if I my two B's are only chemistry related because 2 b's are still 2b's. this is his quote word for word "they are going to think that you are lazy because you've had two years of the subject and not a full understanding of it yet". what is your take on this?

i think your friend is right.

ok ryan. even though your friend is you....

If you only have 2 Bs on your academic record you'll be a strong candidate for every university, you have nothing to worry about and should be proud.

Now obviously it also takes strong ecs, test scores, and a little bit of luck to get into HYP or similar if thats what you are aiming for, which I assume you are if you're worrying about 2 Bs. Assuming you have strong other things, you are certainly a candidate for those schools with all As except for 2 Bs, although no matter what those schools are usually long shots for all but the most amazing applicants.

I'm sure you'll get into excellent schools though.

you didnt answer my question prism... i wanted to know who was right. me or my friend? i am not even applying to hyp because i cant get in.

ok then, you are right, the obvious reaction is that you just aren't as good at chemistry as you are at everything else. Why would they think you are lazy?

That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. You surely can't get in if you don't apply. Apply where you think you would fit in, and see what happens.

Your friend is wrong. You got an A in AP chem the second semester, right?

No admissions committee would look at a transcript with only two Bs for three years of h.s. work and think, "lazy."

Nononono, just lazy for chem :D
