<p>I'm currently taking Physics 2 right now, and I absolutely hate the class. I took it because I thought it was a requirement for a program, but then things changed and I realized I didn't need it about 2 weeks ago. If I continue with it, I'll end up with a C. However, if I drop it, I'll get a "W" on my transcripts. I plan on applying to top grad school programs (Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, etc.) for financial engineering/ computational finance. I have a 3.83 right now, and If I drop Physics now I'll be able to keep that GPA or even raise it. Will dropping hurt my chances at getting into a top grad school? </p>
<p>An occasional “W” won’t be a problem. If it happens a lot it shows that you are routinely overestimating your academic capacity.</p>
