How wired is the Stanford Campus

Current Students,

I am a ProFro and I was wondering how good the wireless network at Stanford is. I was thinking about getting an iPad for college (I usually lose papers) and I don't really want to get the 3G iPad if I don't have to. Does most of the campus have wifi coverage?

Also, do you think it is worth waiting until Admitted Students Weekend to pick one up at the Stanford store (ie is there a discount?) See you at AW.

Go Cardinal!

wifi is basically everywhere. Not too sure about the discount… you would have to check if the store would even have the iPad in stock.

i dont think they carry the iPad

since it just came out, they dont have a discount plan yet but you can surely check later in the year.

I heard they’re releasing the iPad Mini in 2007

Hhahahahahahhaahha

i have never herd that one before :)

There is wireless pretty much everywhere. There are some classrooms underground where you wont get 3g/edge stuff (ie your phone won’t work) but there is wifi pretty much everywhere (minus a few random holes).

side comment: stanford is amazing, but their stupid lingo annoys the hell out of me. frosoco? *** bad california influence

The bookstore does have iPads.

The campus has very good wifi coverage, and they’re constantly expanding coverage based on student surveys. Basically what BigMike said.

This is… amazing… but I have to agree. As someone who hates the frivolous, all of the lingo irritates me. I’ll get used to it.

^^ I thought I would hate it too, but once I learned them all I started to like them. I think they are funny and add spice. Secondly, they are not useless, it is just that their usefulness is marginal.
