How would you rate Minneapolis?

How would you rate Minneapolis? Its been known that the city is one of the most educated, high for entrupernuers etc.... how is the downtown etc...? I ask these questions because I have interest myself in attending University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. I currently do not have a top choice but have great interest in the school.

Also, how’s the eating? Could I go to a diff cart vendor/restaurant every meal for good food? We have a pretty great scene here, but I don’t go out for lunch everyday because of school and I totally want to.

For those of you interested in my question I did search more into it myself and notice that 7th Avenue seems to be a popular street and often branches to other slightly popular streets.

As for ranking, well Minneapolis has also been ranked for numerous things… few are ( and these are the few you can find on Minnesota’s website):
•The Twin Cities have more theater seats per capita than any world city other than New York.
•Minneapolis is the top city for technology in the U.S. according to the March 2005 issue of Popular Science, the world’s largest science and technology magazine.
•In Travel + Leisure magazine’s 2007 “American’s Favorite Cities” poll, Minneapolis/St. Paul ranked first in cleanliness, second in intelligent people, and second in public parks and spaces.
•Minneapolis is the “Most Fun City in America,” according to makers of Cranium.
•Sports Illustrated recently named Saint Paul its “Sportstown.”
•The Twin Cities is the second “coolest community for young talent,” according to Next Generation Consulting.

These are the few taken directly from Minnesota’s website.

About food, Minnesota doesn’t have many (any?) food carts on campus, but does have many nearby restaurants in the next-to-campus Dinkytown, Stadium Village, and Cedar Riverside neighborhoods. The on-campus dining is not bad either, and well integrated with the meal plan cash stored on your student I.D. card.

I’ve also heard that Minneapolis has more parks per land area than any city but Washington, DC, and several of those parks are very near campus, good for quiet nature walks with a friend.

The student price for a universal public transportation card, the U Pass, is a wonderful deal, and allows mobility all over the Twin Cities. The first light rail line goes right by the West Bank campus, and the projected Minneapolis-St. Paul Central Corridor line will go through campus.

Check out this board for lots of info on Minneapolis from locals:

Yeah I have a account on that forum ( not using the user name Coolbrezze ofcourse) and find it very helpful and informative.

I love Minneapolis! It is only second to New York in terms of theater, and there are a ton of theaters around the campus that are worth going to. Buses run from the University to downtown all the time, and the Light Rail Transit system provides a great method of transportation between downtown and the Mall of America. I’ve been to a few of the clubs downtown, and the 18+ nights are really fun! If you like sports, the new outdoor Twins stadium is opening up next year! There are a ton of different kinds of restaurants on campus, but you can easily take a bus downtown and get pretty much any kind of food you want. Minneapolis also has some really nice parks and outdoor places to go. My favorite thing ever is the Walker Art Center. The best modern art collection I’ve ever seen. As far as I’m concerned, this city really has it all, and it’s relatively safe and clean as well.
