Howard University Theatre Program

Does anyone have ANY knowledge about Howard's theatre program? Specifically, their acting program. Any information would be wonderful; I cannot find much on it. Such as, how is competitive is it to get into the program, and what is their acceptance rate? All I have heard is that the theatre program is really good and very rigorous.

Great program! They have a lot of graduates that continue their training at Juilliard in New York.

correction. ONLY ONE goes to Juilliard.

Howard’s theater program doesn’t hold up to its reputation, they have no idea how to train an actor because they don’t have a proper sequence in their “conservatory” training. i advise not to apply, Howard has a bunch of talented young actors but they’re faculty simply doesn’t know how to train an actor.

wow that’s interesting. I’ve met a lot of actors from Howard who speak highly. One is at Juilliard and the other is at NYU Graduate Acting.

I have recently been accepted into the University, but I plan on auditioning for the musical theatre program later on in this month. I know plenty about the program, but what I’m not so informed about is the audition process. The information I was given was pretty ambiguous. I was wondering if any of you all could give me some information and/or tips i.e. are other’s allowed to be in the room during your audition, will the acting, singing, and dancing all be separate, what should I wear, etc.?
Thank you so much!
