How'd your parents take it?

I'm applying regular, but if I don't get in, my mom would be pretty upset. She's Asian so you know how that goes...What college their child goes to reflects on the excellence of their parenting skills. My dad on the other hand would not be as upset...as long as I get into at least one Ivy league.

My dad doesn't really understand the whole college admissions process, but my mom was pretty nice about it. (Asian parents) She told me it was okay and that atleast I tried.

I got deferred yet I haven't told my parents. I don't think they know that the desicions were due Dec 15.

my friends mom cried when he didnt get in....it was kind of awkward cuz my friend went upstairs and she started crying when he wasnt there.

I'm asian but my mom decides that she would not pay for a penny of my college education...

my mom has no idea what goes on in my life but she knew i was going to find out about stanford soon. on thursday she kept saying, "check your email check your email check your email" cuz i think she really thought i would get in. eh. deferred, deferred, deferred.

My parents haven’t said a word about Stanford since the day I got my deferral.

Well my parents are extraordinarily nonchalant about the whole thing... I don't even think they knew I was applying till mid-November, haha, even though I told them a bunch of times. And when I notified them I got in they were ecstatic, obviously, but almost surprised like they had forgotten I had applied or something.
Not to say they aren't really really supportive, they are just really damn chill about everything which is so nice.

dude, will you all chill with the asian parent stereotypes?
I'm asian, and my parents were basically like, "honey, let's be realistic for a moment. Even though you're great, there are a lot of people still better than you. Why don't you apply early to Cornell (hmmm..?) or BU? We'll get you a BMW convertible...." This is in regards to next year cause I'm still a junior...
but I was like no, I want to go to California...

my mom's like.. if you go to a local college here, we'll pay for tuition and buy you a new mustang. But if you go to harvard or stanford.. good luck and take up loans on your own, we don't even want to give you living expenses, and sorry that our EFC kindaf screws your financial aid over.

I got in and my dad was all like:
"Wait, it's $45,000 for ONE year?"
It's not just you guys who have akward situations with your parents right now.

^
hey, if your parents don't let you go, can I have your admission?

hahahaha!
my mom was like the only California school I'll pay for if you get in is Stanford, otherwise, you better get a scholarship

hey mrman what part of kansas are you from? me from there too

naturallyjojo: I'm from Overland Park; do you go to school near me?

did anyone get a GOOD ASS WHOOPIN AKA spanking?

lol

It's not just Asian stereotypes. It's most foreign parents.

My parents were extremely supportive. They knew I had done everything I could have done, both on my application and in the last four years of high school.
