Spring 2012:
CS 61A (w/Hilfinger)
Math 54 (never learned matrices, I'm scared!)
Intermediate language class (heard these take a lot of time)
College Writing R4b (says 32 pages of writing minimum, that's a lot to me)

So that's 16 units of pretty difficult classes and I fear I won't be able to survive even if I take the latter 2 P/NP. Should I switch out one of those two with a deCal?

Certainly difficult and time consuming. But it is not uncommon to take two technicals, a R&C, and a language class. You can do it if you think you can.

You are not supposed to take R&C courses P/NP, right?

In any case, you have written 156 posts. If each one was one fifth of a page, then your posts total to almost 32 pages’ worth.

UpMagic, I really have no idea of what I’m capable of yet. Right now I have so much free time with 2 technicals/2 humanities but I doubt I’ll ever be able to fully utilize it. I’m expecting a 3.58 GPA and even then, I don’t know if I’m doing well for a freshman.

Ucbalumnus, you’re right. Thanks for pointing out that I have to take them for a letter.

Remember to distinguish between intellectual difficulty and workload.

Courses with labs, computer programming, lots of reading, art studio, big term projects, etc. tend to consume a lot of time, even if they are not intellectually difficult for you. But something like an honors math course or perhaps certain philosophy courses may be intellectually difficult, even if they do not take as much time (you may not need a lot of time, but you will need quality thinking time).

Well that is bit better than what I did in my first semester lol.
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with having too much time b/c it means more time to think yourself and all sorts of things.
