There might have been a similar thread, but I couldn't find it.
So here is my question.

Of course, Rice is an excellent school in all of its departments. Still, I am a bit afraid that the entire school atmosphere is towards Engineering/Pre-med/Science.

How's Rice for Social Sciene or Humanities students who have the least interest in science?

Rice is known for its great engineering/bio school, are SC and Humanities schools comparable to these schools by any mean or often regarded as "lesser" schools?

Thanks.

As a social sciences student, I can tell you that there is a lot of course selection and that the professors are good in general (though of course this varies by department). Rice is not necessarily known for humanities/social sciences, but I can assure you that the coursework is quite rigorous and fulfilling. If you have any specific questions feel free to message me (I am a political science/economics major).

Rice is definitely know for it’s engineering and sciences but we do have a good SS and Humanities program as well. I have taken a lot of classes and was never disappointed. They are thorough and complex as are most of the classes at Rice.

My alumni interviewers (yes, there were TWO!! a husband/wife pair interviewed me) were both social science majors (PoliSci and Medical Anthropology & Spanish) and they totally sold me on the School of social sciences. They both said they had amazing professors that they bonded with and that the baker insititute really contributes to the social sciences. Also, I think like 1/3 of students major in social sciences?
