I’m already committed to SLU, so I know that’s where I’ll be attenenig this fall, but I was wondering about the gay scene at SLU. I know that they have an active LGBT group and the kids are almost entirely accepting, but I’m really looking to ask someone who has been to the school recently (especially another gay male like me) about the gay dating life there. It’d help put my soul at ease to have some inside info haha, thanks!
It sucks. There are a dozen of us that are open, and another dozen that are closeted. Relationships are few and far between, with hookups dominating the scene. Everyone has slept with everyone else, and its an almost inbred community. It helps that there are 2 other decent colleges nearby (SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson) with some guys there, but unless you’re willing to drive and are very adventurous in expanding your social networks, its really tough. Get ready for a very interesting 4 years, and for a lot of familiar faces… That being said, there are a few of us that are really just friendly and we network well together, so if you need people to give you advice on dating at the school, we can definitely help you out when you get here.
