How's the heat at ND right now?

what's the atmosphere like at ND right now regarding the Vtech incident?

Since I'm a Korean and live in VA, it's pretty weird here... especially with korean embassy going on a state of alert and everything. Apparently korean students at Vtech are now travelling in groups.

Anyway, I just wanted to know how it's like at ND cuz I'll be visiting as an admitted student next week.

thanks

I hate how this whole mess is turning into race...holy crap people, if he were black or white, they wouldn't even mention race.

I can't imagine wowser that at ND you will feel outcast because of being Korean. It appears on other threads that the focus is more on the mental issues vs. ethnicity. Visit the campus and embrace it! Best of luck to you!!

It's a non-issue, hands down. You will feel absolutely welcome here.

thank you so much.
I feel much better now

i just hope this incident won't cause stereotypes and stuff...

I agree w/SweetLax & Irish_hopeful - - I don't believe people feel this had anything to do with his race... It's like claiming that because he was 23 years old, all 23 year olds are capable of this behavior. No one I know believes that the fact he was Korean places any negative feelings on other Koreans - it truly is a non-issue...

ok thank you!

I'm heartsick to hear that the Korean students at VT feel they have to travel in groups - - I wish they would know that no one with any sense would group Cho's ethnicity/nationality with the personal choices HE made. For goodness sake, his immediate family members are SOOOO different than he is - - My heart breaks to know some Koreans feel people would connect them with Cho, simply because they are of the same ethnicity/nationality... Heck, I wear glasses and so did he... I would hope people wouldn't connect me with him!!! Let's pray that sanity will take over and we will all do whatever we can to try to help everyone who has been affected negatively by this tragedy.

Just echoing what marieob said

This guy was insane, his color of skin or slant of eyes made no impact on his decisions. His own family has called out against him. His grandfather called him a son of a biatch and his grandmother called him an asss hole and that he deserved to die. So, I find it quite appalling that people would take this as a race issue, as it obviously is an issue of insanity vs. normality.

haha, his grandparents really said that?

yes sir/mam

heard it on the radio last night
