I know UMich has a good Computer Engineering (and EECS) program, but since the Computer Science minor is under the LSA jurisdiction, I haven't found many specific pieces of information about it so far.

In short, what could you tell me about the quality of UMich's Computer Science minor (on LSA)?

The distinction of being under the LSA school means nothing. You take EECS 203, 280, 281, and an upper level. These are all classes that EECS majors take.

I don’t know how to describe the quality. I can tell you that classes like 280 and 281 are a lot of work and that you are going to want some experience outside of the class programming if you’re going to try to take 281. If you have more specific questions I can answer those.

Vladenschlutte, thank you for your time answering my question and thanks for putting yourself available.

I do have a few more questions if you don’t mind:

[ul]
[li]What’s the point of putting the Computer Science minor under LSA jurisdiction if the classes are still offered by CoE? That’s something I’m just curious about.
[/li]

[li]Does the CS minor comprise only those 4 courses?
[/li]

[li]What’s the language (besides English) taught in those EECS courses?[/li][/ul]

Once again, thank you for your attention.

“What’s the point of putting the Computer Science minor under LSA jurisdiction if the classes are still offered by CoE? That’s something I’m just curious about.”

I have no idea, but it really makes no difference.

“Does the CS minor comprise only those 4 courses?”

Yes, though it’s kind of like 5 if you count Engr101 or EECS183 because most take one of those before 280.

“What’s the language (besides English) taught in those EECS courses?”

C++; though it might be different when you get to the upper level depending on which you take.

Thanks for the help. I’m looking forward to enroll in that minor.
