Hpme vs plme

Haha, sorry about this-i know there are old threads about this, but i thought we could get new input

no i havent gotten accepted into either, but when i apply next year-i want to know if i should apply early decision to plme or just wait for regular to apply to both hpme and plme

i dont see any problem in applying to plme early. its an ivy league with a good med school. for plme and hpme, they are both great schools and great programs. applying early gives you a slight edge in terms of admissions, so might as well do it. if you get in and are forced to go, then who cares, your life is set.

make sure you indicate that you are not interested in committing to brown if you are not accepted to plme early.

PLME accepts about 20 in the ED round. Don’t remember how many usually applied ED to PLME each year but it wasn’t much easier than the acceptance rate overall for PLME.

Unfortunately, these programs are so selective that only a handful of people ever get into both of them. Most mortals will never have to make this difficult choice. Brown’s medical school and undergrad are ranked below Northwestern. NU also has more research opportunities, but Brown does as well as or better than NU in the residency match. Brown also lets you take almost every thing pass/fail if you want. You can not go wrong with either of them.
