6-8. My magic number is 10 though, I can only wake up well-rested when I have 10 hours and I don't sleep more than that.

i need 7 to be normal. i usually get 5. i can never get to sleep until i;ve been in bed staring at the ceiling for a hour.
damn you high school projects!

about 6 hours. although i have pulled all nighters before :). Drink alot of coffee or energy drinks before school... and you'll feel like new. Remember, school comes first.

I can function with as little as 5 hours but 4 or less and I'm actually dead and like .. nodding off in class.

What are other people's cut-off points?

^ I've actually pulled off allnighters and stayed pretty alert in classes the next day.
It's just the very morning when I feel tired (like 7-8am). Couple of energy drinks later, I'm all for some futbol (soccer) and physics haha

But my PERFECT sleeping time is 6 hrs. Usually, when I sleep in on weekends, I alertly wake up after 6 hrs but I usually make myself go to sleep again.
But no one can wake me up before 6 hrs, except for my dear mother - who actuallly forces my eyes open and drop in some eyedrops and pull me up in the sitting position and shakes me until i fully wake up.

I'm full of energy when I sleep 5, 8, or 11 hours -- 7 or 9 hours of sleep suck.

how is 5 hours of sleep better than 7 hours?!?!?

Sometimes too much hours makes all my joints stiff and makes me lack motivation. And oops, I'm not at school when the school is conducting a mandatory test required for graduation :D

last night I slept for 10 hours...I was so tired when I woke up to go to school. I slept for an hour when I came back from school.

i sleepabout 4to 5 hours in summer but in winter and studing and stuf of that so i sleep 8 to 9 hours and in yhe wwek end i sleep 3to4 hours

I think 6-8 is optimal, but for school, I'm usually 4-5. And on weekends, 9-12.

Hey NoFX ... you SO didn't need to put "soccer" in parenthesis. ;)

J'adore le football. The real kind.

...Wow...:

*Too much sleep 'is bad for you'

Eight hours' sleep a night has long been touted as the ideal length of time to spend under the duvet but new research suggests it could shorten your life...*

Awesome! Now, I have justification for going to bed at 11:30. :D

did u know that u can gain weight if u don't get enough sleep??

^ I think that's because people burn calories when they sleep. And when people dont sleep, they eat...well i do..

Oh man I need to stop sleeping ...

And when I'm not sleeping, I'm eating or wanting to eat.

.... I must be a fat person inside.

You burn more calories while awake of course, but you need sleep to keep up your metabolism and burn more during the day. People also need a good ammount of sleep to produce certain hormones that suppress appetite. Anyway I guess I'd better get to bed....

good morning! studying...

gain weight by staying awake!?!?! I've never heard that before. I doubt it's accurate,..
