So, I just started working on my app and I'm filling in the course sections for college right now. Are we supposed to enter HS grades or no?

No. Only freshman applicants have to worry about that.

ThanksCayton. Another ? “Prior to transfer, will you have satisfied the Entry-Level Writing Requirement?” Is this asking me if I completed both required English requirments on Area A and B on IGETC?

Yeah. They’re just asking if you will be able to complete area 1A and 1B on the IGETC by the end of this spring. Area 1A and 1B are the two transferable English classes you’re supposed to complete prior to transfer. If you’ve passed both of them or intend to pass your last necessary English class by the end of spring, then state that you will satisfy the requirement.

Sick. Thanks again.

No problem! We gotta help each other out on this damned application process, lol

They will ask for high school grades if you’re using it to complete the foreign language requirement. For example, you took three years of French in high school and would like to satisfy that requirement on the IGETC instead of taking another language class in community college.

They probably ask for the grades of HS for other reasons also but that’s one of the main reasons I know.

What’s up OC? I’m using my HS foreign language from 9th/10th grade. Under what section would I enter my HS grades then? I’m looking at the “Review Academic History” section and next to my HS it states: “Non-US HS language: none.” Is this where the problem lies? Should it read yes?

@ocnative

I completed my foreign language requirement in high school and have no idea where to mention it on my application. I’m fairly certain that’s to be handled when receiving IGETC certification by your community college next year instead. The subject hasn’t even come up on the application. I’d like someone else’s input on this.

@Cayton

I sure hope this is the case! I went through the app again to check everything and I couldn’t find where to enter HS foreign language. Hopefully some more people chime in!

@Snorlaz

Yeah, I just went through the application again myself and I don’t know what ocnative is talking about.

But there is one question on the application that asks if you’ll be certified for IGETC by the end of spring. Obviously, you’ll put yes. I’m fairly certain that since they ask this question and that IGETC requires proficiency in a foreign language, you’re indirectly telling the UCs that you have completed or will have completed the foreign language requirement by the end of spring.

@ Cayton "I’m fairly certain that’s to be handled when receiving IGETC certification by your community college next year instead. "

This is correct.
