HS Senior Year Classes

Hello. I'm currently a junior in high school and I have a question regarding my senior year classes. I know GWU looks at the rigor and workload of your classes. I'll be taking these classes next year:

AP English 12
AP Spanish
AP Government
AP Calculus BC (This will be everyday)
AP Physics
Advanced Accounting
Peer Mentoring 3

My question is, will it matter what kind of Physics I'll be taking? My school offers either Regular Physics or AP Physics. Unfortunately, we don't have a Honors Physics class. I really don't want to take AP Physics because I feel like my workload for next year is already hard enough. Does it lower my chances of getting in if I don't want to take AP Physics? I also want to major in Accounting, so is AP Physics really necessary for me to take? Please give any input/comments/suggestions you have :) Thank you!

your thinking wayyyyy tooo much about this…taking ap physics vs regular physics will make NO effect on your admissions into gwu one way or the other…IMO, i would take the easier physics class…1. it has no bearing on what you plan on majoring in and 2. you are already taking more than enough APs elsewhere which is good enough

Agree totally with PatM.

Okay thank you  I will be selecting just regular Physics! I just hope this really won’t hurt my chances! I really want to be accepted.

It wont hurt your chances

I took regular physics instead of Honors or AP and I’m going to GW this fall. So don’t worry, it will not hurt your chances of getting in. As Pat says, you’re thinking way too much about something so minute. Good luck! :)

theinsomniac77, thank you so much! Would you mind posting up your stats please? & also, did you apply EDI?

You’re welcome :]

I don’t believe in statistics defining your admission, especially into a school like GW who looks so closely at selecting well-rounded students. But I will say that I cracked the 2000mark on my SATs, did well on my subject tests, and dedicated myself to working in my community. My schedule was similar to yours, although less challenging due to my school’s course offerings. What I think helped me most in getting in were my extra-curriculars. For reference, I applied RD. If financial aid is not a problem and you are determined to go to GW, I’d suggest applying EDI. Best of luck; I’m positive you have a good chance of getting in. ~
