Hi! So during my freshman year, I took part in a foreign language program outside of school and got an A- semester 1 and 2. I asked for it to be put on my transcript and my GPA went from a 4.22 to a 4.1643 for my freshman year. Now, I’m wondering if it’s worth keeping it on my transcript if it will make me stand out since it’s a very unique language or I should take it off since it’s dropping my GPA? I can always just add it in extracurricular, right? So is it worth keeping it on my transcript but my GPA lowering or I should keep it off my transcript and just include it in my extra curriculars?
I apologize for the extremely “personal” scenario, but I’m just really confused at what might be a good option. Thanks!
If you managed to convince your high school to include this on your transcript, you must have taken the class at a place that issues grades and transcripts, and as such is a place you are going to have to ask to send your transcript for that class when you apply to college. So just leave it on your HS transcript. The colleges are going to see that grade anyway when you order the original transcript to be sent.
I agree with @happymomof1 ; colleges will see the grade one way or another. I don’t know what the impact is on your UW GPA, but I doubt that it’s statistically meaningful.
If your hs is on a 4.0 scale, realize it’s unweighted that matters, the actual courses and grades, especially cores and those related to your possible major.
Agree, keep it simple, let these stay on the transcript.
Taking some one or two unusual courses won’t tip the scale. You need to understand what your targets do look for and frankly assess whether or not you will be showing that, in your full app package.
