HSF: Youth Leadership Institute 2017

Out of curiosity for those who have been accepted what is your gpa ? Extracurriculars ? I don’t think my essays were the strongest but I believed that the rest of resume was pretty solid. Also does it tell you explicitly if you have been waitlisted for those who also been rejected ?

My school runs on a 5.33 GPA system, and I currently have a 4.62. I’m in the top 10% though

Extracurriculars include:
-3-going-on-four years on varsity cross country team (captain last year and this upcoming year)
-2 years on varsity lacrosse team
-SHS President
-NHS member and blood drive coordinator
-Part of this year’s musical at my school
-Hospice volunteer
-Horseback rider; I also volunteer as a horse leader at a therapeutic riding program
-Participated in an 8-week medical internship at local hospital
-Vice President of HOSA for 3 years (which is a medical-related club) and will be competing in nationals this year in Orlando (super pumped about that!:D)
-I also work at a tutoring center

The response I got didn’t mention anything about rejection or didn’t have any words referring to that (such as unfortunately, we are sorry to say, etc). It actually seemed pretty positive for it to be a waitlist letter, imho

I wonder how many people get off the waitlist/what are the chances of actually getting accepted into the program…

Just got an email saying I’ve been rejected

I’ve been rejected as well :frowning:

I took a nap and woke up to a rejection email as well. But hey, I still really hope the rest of you guys get accepted. Let us know if you do!

And no, it didn’t say anything about a waitlist for me. Maybe for some people it did though.

Rejected!! Thank god I finally got an email.

Idk. I guess I could feel sad but I got other $hit lined up for summer, and this probably ain’t a big deal for colleges n whatnot. Summer abouta start, aced my projects n stuff, like ain’t nothin gonna rain on my parade!

For those that were asking a few days ago… I’ve found online that in 2015 there were 1,300 applications for 150 spots.

@monithom 150 for each location? Or 150 in total? Geez :X

I just noticed the emoji next to my reply, idk why that’s there lmao

Does anyone know how many people applied this year and how many were accepted into each region?

^I have no idea how many applied but I believe 200 get in to each region. I’m not 100% though.

SAME omg I got waitlisted which was extra discouraging because 4 of my friends that go to my school got accepted which is crazy! I wonder what the chances of getting off are.

Congratulations to everyone who got in tho!!! And if you didn’t, there are other programs so don’t be down! Maybe there is something better for us down the road mi amigos~

I got off the waitlist today and that whole process of waiting was extremely anxiety inducing so if anyone is still waiting there is totally hope!

I’m really late to this conversation but I also got into the USC program! if anyone wants to chat before hand feel free to let me know!

I got accepted too, have they sent out an email with the things we need to bring yet?

Yeah they sent me an email telling me stuff to do, how to get there, and what to bring.
