Is anybody else part of the Hudson and Holland Scholars? I am still confused as to what all these requirements are to uphold the scholarship and stay in the program. What is this class we have to take, and what if it doesn't fit in with the rest of my required courses? I am also a direct admit to Kelley, so will the programs interfere? Thank you for helping!

The only for-credit class (EDUC-U 212) that you need to take for HHSP will probably be the easiest A you get at IU. One course only; use it to add to the total credits required to graduate and help your gpa. The course serves an introduction to college life and planning career options and paths. There are a few conferences that you are required to attend during the year, which take place on Saturdays. You must also do an internship by the fall of senior year, which everybody at Kelley usually does anyway. Lots of HHSP students are in Kelley. Keep your cumulative gpa above 3.7 through the end of your junior year, attend two or three mandatory conferences a year, do your internships, and HHSP will pay you probably in excess of $27,000 during your four years at IUB. Keep your cumulative gpa over 3.0 for your first three years and you will get at least $21,000 as a Kelley/HHSP student.

Fellow HHSP scholar here.

I’m guessing you received information about the mandatory conference on move-in day for families? Make sure you confirm via the link in that email. So far, that is the only HHSP information I have received. Along with information about the required course.

Feel free to message me anytime as we are fellow scholars!

Hey, I’m a current HHSP scholar! Welcome to the program!

They’ll explain a lot of the requirements at the conference. Basically, the point of everything is to make sure that you stay on track while you’re at IU and that you are set up for success after you graduate. Some parts of the program can be a little confusing and disorganized, but if you ever have any questions ask one of the staff. They really care about the students and put in a lot of extra work to make the program work.

Also, to clarify something that bthomp1 stated: the additional funding (on top of what you receive each year) for having a 3.7 or 3.5 gpa is no longer awarded, as the program’s budget has been significantly cut. Funding opportunities for study abroad and internships through the program have also been reduced. That being said, it’s still a good program and they’re doing the best that they can to keep HHSP up and running, just know that the program is at a time of transition and so some things can be a little disorganized.

And lastly, it will not conflict with your Kelley studies at all! (I’m at Kelley too). If for any reason any of the requirements conflict with school, the staff will do everything to fix the conflict, since school is the first priority with a scholarship program!
