Hey I’m a senior interested in the Kelley school of business, but OOS tuition is obv quite expensive. Its around 48k and I really need it to get to like 35k to be able to afford it. I have a 32 on my ACT and a 3.95 W gpa(strong upward trend) and qualify for direct admit to kelley and hutton honors. Interested in any advice for scholarships to apply for and stuff, I think Ill qualify for SSA but im not sure. Any advice appreciated!
I got mine down to 32k with Hudson and Holland scholarship and Dean’s scholarship. I think you’ll get the same. Also make sure to apply for Kelley partnership if you get hudson and holland
I believe that is only for underrepresented minorites, I’m white and don’t think I’d qualify
No, I know white people who’ve gotten it. Also I’m asian
ohhhh really okay thanks
You will get an invitation for the SSA as you should be in the top 5% of applicants. You will be notified of the Dean’s scholarship shortly after or with your acceptance letter. The SSA is all inclusive of scholars programs. You did great on the ACT, but if you only took it once, why not try again? Good luck.
Thanks for the info, and I took the act twice I just didn’t mention it because it was a 26 and am not going to submit it.
Just wanted to clarify something because we just went through this last year with my son who is now a freshman at IU and we were confused at first. There is a Dean’s Scholarship that is University wide and a Dean’s Council Scholarship that is for URM. I really don’t want to get your hopes up or give you a false sense of security, but I think with your scores you should be able to get the cost down to your price range. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to take the ACT a third time. Good luck! My son has only been on campus for a few days and he’s already loving it!
Thanks for this…just applied with 4.2 weighted/3.92 unweighted and 35 ACT for Kelley Direct Admit…am OOS but am hopeful for some merit money as well…good luck everyone…
My son is now a senior in Kelley. He has applied for additional scholarships each year. He already has a Deans scholarship and an additional Hutton one. He has been awarded additional scholarship money each year. He also was awarded 2 study abroad scholarships last semester, one from Kelley and one from Hutton. So I highly recommend completing the SSA yearly and if you go abroad apply for study abroad scholarships also. Good luck to all of you.
How much usually would be for ssa ? Thanks!
Wondering for me too, I’m already a DA to Kelley but I haven’t gotten an SSA invitation. I had an SAT score of 1410 and a weighted gpa of 4.32. Should I contact the school?
@srinvan SSA is weird and I can’t figure it out. I have twins who were accepted this year, one got an SSA invite and the other did not. The one who got it is the lower stat kid whom I didn’t expect to even be admitted. I did call and the scholarship officer really couldn’t explain it, even though it’s not a huge deal to us. It is what it is. If you get it, it’s usually mentioned in your acceptance email first, followed up by another more specific SSA email.
What is SSA? We have 1570 SAT and 4.75 GPA
@Laura11 It’s “Selective Scholarship Application”.
If you log into your one.iu account, search for the scholarships tab, open it. If you qualified for SSA, it will have two applications to complete, one general and one SSA(it might say IU I don’t remember). If it says only “general”, then you didn’t get an SSA invite. I’d be surprised if you didn’t.
I dont think my daughter got the SSA app either. Her stats are 1310 SAT and 3.8 GPA unweighted and 4.4 weighted. Many EC’s, founder of charity, AP scholar etc etc Is there anyway we can get the application? Has anyone had success calling the school directly? She is Direct Admit to Kelley and its her #1 choice so far. How do they choose who gets invited to fill out SSA?
@Finalchildof3 - is good question, am not sure…would call admissions…
