HUGE difference in ACT score v. SAT score?

I got a 1950 on my sat and a 33 on my act... The schools I am applying to require 2 sat IIs, so my terrible sat score will be visible. Should I retake the sat's, or work hard to do better on act's, a test that I clearly perform better on? Also, will colleges really disregard the lower score?

My daughter had the same exact test scores as you last year. She retook the SAT in the fall of her senior year and went up 110 points in the reading section (which had been her low score, although she got a 35 on the ACT reading. Go figure.)

She did nothing differently to prepare (reviewed the book), but said she stopped "overthinking" the questions and instead just selected the first answer that seemed right.

Anyway, she got into a top-20 school that wanted the SAT IIs, so don't sweat it, but I would definately retest since you have the time to do so.

stick to your strength - the ACT

yeah, on the last SAT, i mised 4 math questions and got everything else right on the math, so on the act that would have been like a 32 or 33 for math... but on the SAT, it wa only a 690... which is not comparable to a 32... i hate the SAT and it's -1/4 point policy.. so stupid

i mean, on the ACT's, i've been making 36's on the math... why is the SAT math so much different for me? (i've made a 720 and a 690 on the SAT math sections so far)

Wow, for me the SAT is easier. I am taking the ACT tomorow, but i don't think i will do as well as 2250 on SAT.

I'm almost scared of the difference. I got a 35 on the ACT but I really don't think I'll do as well on the SAT next month. I'm taking an SAT class but the ACT just comes much more naturally for me.

more opinions? Will colleges consider my lower score?

I have a similar situation.

SAT Score = 2090
ACT Score = 34 (which is equivalent to 2280)

I think we might as retake senior year, its the last chance, and what could we lose? Its highly unlikely we would score same/lower

SAT = 1240
ACT = 32 (around 1400)

Sat = 2230
Act = 36 (=2400)

SAT= 1810
ACT= 30

And i live in L.A. so the SAT is much more important...

Act:
C:30
E:32
S:29
R:29
M:28
Sat:
1800/2400
1240/1600
M:640
Cr:600
W:560

SAT = 1600 (yes, out of 2400)
ACT = 29

My SAT Critical Reading score was something like 570, and my ACT English and Reading scores were 35 and 31, respectively. Pretty big difference. I hate the SAT.
