Human Biology major

Human Biology major is required to take spanish?

Yup.

[UCSC General Catalog 2010-12 - Programs and Courses](http://reg.ucsc.edu/catalog/html/programs_courses/biolPS.html#MCDB)

Yes, I saw it. I did not take Spanish before. I wonder if it is a suitable major for me on my UC app.

The Human Biology major requires you to take 5 quarters of Spanish. You don’t need to know Spanish or have taken spanish to be able to take these courses. if you want to be in the medical field then human biology would be a good proposed major.

I have been learning other foreign language… I am interested in human biology and medical field in my future; but I am not comfortable learning yet another language… I do not know if I should choose this major in UCSC.

On UCSC Human Biology website:
Language Requirement: Spanish 1–4 or the equivalent and one quarter of Spanish for health-care workers (Spanish 5M).

Does it mean the spanish level need to be like AP level?
Do I have to take Spanish in freshmen year?

You don’t have to take Spanish freshmen year you can if you want to. I’m a human biology major and am not planning on taking it until my junior year. You’ll need to take a Spanish placement test but there is an option for people who know no Spanish just click on that and you’ll be place into Spanish 1 without having to take the test. You don’t need to know any Spanish to be able to take Spanish 1
