bump...... lol

I think you have a really good chance to getting in ED - just make sure your essays really show why human ecology is perfect for you. Good luck!

Hey, that's awesome :)
I already wrote my humec essay and i think it does, but you never know haha.
I'm so excited to apply/get my decision lol
I wish I was Class of 2012 instead of 2013!

bump 10char

I think you've gotten plenty of feedback and chances, so it's safe to say this thread is ready to die.

I'd always like to get more.
But fine.

For the common application, you should record down all of your SAT IIs.

I have 800/800/800/800/490 (in US history - I didn't even take any courses in history). I am going to write all of them down, since admission officers will see my transcript anyway. I am afraid that they will deem me "dishonest" and just reject me.

I didn't list my bio sat2 that I took freshman year, because well I didn't take it for college really, I just took it kinda as practice so I could have taken an sat2, I kinda forgot about it since it was freshman year, and it wasn't that great, although wasn't awful either. I got in here so that didn't seem to matter, but of course they did see it in my sat score report.

Yes, you should only list (on your common app) the SAT II scores needed by your particular college. But everything will be shown on the score report.
I would like some opinions comparing HumEc to other colleges, though!

It's hard to compare HumEc to the other college at Cornell. Every college is unique. However...if the major you're looking at is offered in more than one college (ex. Bio, Nutrition, Biology and Society) then there are some items that can be compared.

I was more asking about how HumEc compares to other universities (outside of Cornell) lol. Is HumEc considered an extremely strong college by med schools and the like? I'm interested in the HBHS major at HumEc.
I'm finding it so difficult to write the essay for CALS, my alternate choice, since my interests are more in lieu with HumEc.

Well...all I can say about CALS is that if you think you can't strongly communicate your fit...don't bother applying...especially as an alternate choice.

Cornell is regarded highly by medical schools and the HBHS major gives strong preparation for medical school and students end up at top programs.

I just don't understand how CALS's mission is so vastly different from HumEc's... I mean, I'm interested in their Biological Sciences major and I can't see a HUGE difference between CALS's mission to improve life and HumEc's mission to improve understanding of humans and how they impact the world.
My question was, how is HumEc viewed in comparison to other universities in terms of strength of the academic programs? Like how Hotel is considered the best for hotel management, etc.

Ultimately...the CALS focuses heavily on improving life through (dun dun dunnnn) the life sciences. The CALS distribution requirements are laden with math and science requirements. HumEc...not so much.

HumEc is strong...but it's difficult to compare it to other colleges across the nation. The college is chock full of niche majors like fiber science, policy analysis and management. However...I think that programs like nutritional science and HBHS are among the strongest in the nation. This is the extent of info I can offer you as I was in CALS...although I did pursue a minor in nutrition so I have some experience there.

Yeah HBHS is what I'm going for, and it seems like an amazing program.
lol, writing the CALS essay is so damn hard.
Human Ecology's HBHS program seems like it's the premier premed program in the US, or one of them.
and I also love HumEc's perspective on life essentially, it meshes with my own really well.
In terms of pre-med, i actually think HumEc is stronger than CALS

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that statement.

Sorry, I meant for me. I find myself a much better match with HumEc than with CALS.
Should i do that Red Carpet Society thing?

I think you should go ahead and do it. At least by having an "official" overnight visit you'll get a good feel for the campus.

Yeah, I would really like that since I'm basically all-Cornell at this point lol.
Is it possible to do a Spanish minor for the outside-HumEc credits?
If there's anything I love more than the medical sciences, it's Spanish.

If the department offers a minor then you should be able to do it.

I think I can minor in CAS and major in HumEc.
