Human Resource Management Certificate

I have a BS degree in Business Administration. I did not have a minor or a concentration. I am one class off from a certificate in Human Resource Management. Should I get that instead?

What you should do is get an entry level HR position where you can learn , grow and work your way up. When you say HR, are you looking to be a generalist or a specialist? What would you like to do: benefits, recruiting/talent acquisition, labor, HRIS, training and development, compensation? Each require different skill sets. Certification without actual experience is not going to get you anything.

sybbie719, is 100% correct. jump into the fire pit …you will learn (and earn$$) and that experience is worth a lot more than a certificate.

Once you have the job, get the certificate though. The last 4 HR folks I hired all had the experience and the certificate. You may be better off to get the experience and then get your PHR or SHRM-CP.
