When I visited Cornell and researched on their website, it came across as a very technical/science school. Does anyone know the quality of their humanities programs, especially english or history?

While the most popular majors here are science-type ones, I know that other departments are very strong as well. I don't know specifically about english or history, but the philosophy department at Cornell has many of the most influential philosophers in the past few decades, as well as its own school of thought.

kurt vonnegut and toni morrison are graduates of cornell...It certainly has produced some strong writers. Cornell certainly excells in the sciences, but it definitely is not lacking in the humanities. For example a professor in the music department just won some enormously prestigious award/prize.

Humanities at Cornell are very strong... there are many very strong departments...my 1st hand experience is with History, English, Philosophy, Goverment (Cornell's version of Politcal Science) and Classics. All are top notch with very accessible professors and small class sizes...CAS is has 4,000 students... you get an LAC type experience inside of a major research institution.

here's just one of Cornell's Humanities resources:
