Hume or Murphree?

Hello, my roommate and I are trying to decide where to live for the next school year. We are currently first-year students and will be second-year students next year. We are both currently in the Honors Program and are living at Hume. While the rooms in Hume are nice, we are not fans of the location and the fact that the vast majority of students in Hume are first-years. I have had people tell me that Murphree Area is a great place to live. So, I’m just looking for recommendations/ information on which is better. We mainly want a nice location, decent sized rooms (I heard that they tend to be luck of the draw?), and preferably not communal bathrooms. Thank you!

Have you considered off campus housing? Lots of apartments within walking distance. Got a few more friends to go in with you? Scout it out. Start now.
Most all of UF dorms will be first year students. Hume actually is one of the few where older students hang around.

Way back when, my husband lived in Murphree area, and he loved it–big rooms, good location. He stayed there through his senior year. At that time, it did not have air conditioning though. Does it now?

By Fall 2015 it is supposed to get central AC. Now you can get a portable AC under certain conditions.
