Hunt Leadership Scholars Program

I agree with those above who have said to be patient, and that the letter will most likely arrive mid to late next week.

This is taken directly from the letter:
“It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been chosen as a finalist for the Hunt Leadership Scholarship. This year, we received over 900 applications for the scholarship. You are one of 66 finalists chosen and of these, 25 will be named Hunt Leadership Scholars.”

“We congratulate you for the leadership, hard work, academic record and commitment to serving your community that you have shown in your high school career. These qualities indicated to the review committee that you will be an active participant and leader in our diverse and exciting SMU community.”

The letter is singed by R Gerald Turner, President

@doresearch Did he receive any sort of email or just the snail mail notification?

@cawlegekid123 My son only received a large envelope via snail mail. No email was sent to him.

Best of luck and please keep us posted.

Do they also mail the President scholar interview invitations this week? That thread is way too quiet.

Congratulations to your son! If possible, could you PM me his stats, ect. We are keeping our fingers crossed! Thanks!

Several of you have asked for a PM with my son’s stats. I have tried to respond to everyone, but if I missed you, please ask again. Best of luck to everyone.

Hi again doresearch! I would love to hear your son’s stats! Hoping to get a letter in the mail this week like everyone else here!! Thank you so much!

No mail from SMU yet down in south texas

I live in the DFW area. Unfortunately, I received my letter today and I was not chosen as a finalist. I wish everyone good luck with their interviews!

I’m in the Houston area and received my letter today and was selected as a finalist! Good luck to everyone!

Bummer mtmt32 ! Sorry to hear that. Thanks for posting.

Do the notifications come in regular envelope for non-finalists and the big red envelope for finalists?
Also were they mailed/postmarked Feb 14?

The non-finalist letters come in a regular white envelope and it was postmarked Feb 14.

@satxmom1957…The finalist letter came in a large white envelope–not a red envelope. It has SMU Unbridled 100 in the lower right corner and it has a return address of Hunt Leadership Scholars Program.

@mtmt32, I am very sorry you were not selected ((hugs)), but thank you for posting.

@americanjoker Congratulations!!!

Here in the northeast we received several mailings from SMU today dated 2/7/14 and postmarked 2/12/14 so we are a couple of days behind some of you in receiving mail… Has anyone received anything regarding the President’s Scholars Program? Thanks to all for posting.

I got mine today 2/19. Joining the other 66
Interview date is in March on a Friday. They have also built in 3 days to check out SMU!
The letter came in a white envelope.

Congratulations to those who have been invited! Pool of candidates must be amazingly talented for SMU to pick 66 for 25 scholarships!

CWSTUDENT, I think I am in your camp now - snail mail - no longer a fan. It it so unpredictable especially for those out of state with lots of weather lately. I feel your stress. At least from these postings we know that a letter is coming either way.

Departmental scholarships are still coming, and ya’ll make sure to apply for all the local scholarships, even if they require another essay! They can add up! Check with your parents’ employers, your district, any parent organizations of the areas you have held leadership positions - like Kiwanis, Knights, Civitans, DECA, etc. Don’t miss those deadlines! Good luck guys and gals! Stay positive!

OK, folks, my S got the small envelope today from Hunt. Postmarked 2-17-14. Good luck to all still waiting and to ya’ll in the interview process!

@lots2do what state is she in?
