I applied to many Ivy League schools, mostly because I was convinced that I'd only get into one, and that my decision would be made for me.

But, as it turns out I was accepted to UPenn's Huntsman Program, Brown, Yale, Princeton, and Harvard and I'm left with a huge decision. I understand that the Huntsman Program is insanely selective and is just, a really awesome program-- errr as are all of the other schools/programs. I'm wondering if anyone can help me weigh the pros and cons of each, considering I plan to major in IR and pursue diplomacy?

you might have better luck if you move this to the general penn forum. that said, I don’t know a whole lot about IR but if you don’t go to huntsman then go for HYP. from what I’ve heard, both princeton and harvard have great programs in politics/IR but I haven’t done as much research into this subject. Princeton in general tends to excel in theory based subjects though so you might be better served with Harvard or Yale. That said, if you want a more well-rounded education I think Harvard might be a better choice than Yale as it is much more humanities/arts focused than other universities (which may very well be up your alley as well). With regards to Huntsman, it is a very prestigious program but it is geared towards IR/business so I’d go for it if you have some interest in business. If you don’t like business/dont wan’t to pursue it then I’d go for Harvard (the brand name does help with politics/business areas too). Otherwise, Huntsman is a great program in which you’ll get a lot of attention from profs and have a solid grounding from wharton as well which will complement your IR well. I’d still say its for people who have an interest in business but want to do business abroad though. Take what I say with a grain of salt though, I’m not particularly well versed with IR.

the Huntsman program is amazing! Its very selective… and its specific… international studies and business… i think you get to pursue your major there, theres access to more facilities and opportunities for you and the other VERY FEW students at the program. I mean, think about it, theres only a few of you and several dedicated teachers training and educating you to get the best possible outcome … I would go to the Huntsman program. To be honest, HYPB are just there for prestige… Brown is out for sure… so I know exactly what you are thinking HYP or Huntsman… but for IR, it would only be their name that would help you… but the education sure wont. You seem like you are all set on IR so if you know exactly what you want to do, then I say Huntsman for sure! HYP is more for economics, politics and the sciences…
Im interested in IR as well… and I’m going to UPenn!
And this is just a random info but UPenn admits the most international students… and you may think this has nothing to do with it, but it sure does. UPenn, and especially its Huntsman program, is amazing on IR. I say go for it… tell me what you think

and scroll down to read ilovebagels’ comment. She’s a current IR major student at Upenn so you might find it of some use!

And just want to say Congratulations! And if you dont mind (you really dont have to), can you give us a quick sumary of your EC activities and scores and fin. aid? Good luck with the decision - you cant do any wrong with any of your options :)
