Hurry up and make a decision

I agree with the above posters. I understand the unfortunate circumstances of being on the waitlist, but the accepted students have put huge amounts of time, effort, and money into this process and need to be allowed to take all the time they need. The school sets guidelines for accepted students, and those guidelines are followed by most everyone, so forcing someone to more quickly make a decision is not fair to them. I understand if someone is holding a spot after making a decision, but asking someone to make a decision more quickly seems a bit rude to me. Additionally, many schools don’t even offer revisits until late March or April, soon before the deadline, so in many cases the students need to wait for those; that would not be a problem with the students and their parents. Finally, the schools account for yields, which they won’t be able to properly know until ALL decisions are turned in (April 10th), and so the chances of being taken off the waitlist even if 50% of acceptances are replied to are slim before that date.

I didn’t mean to be rude at all. I know this is a big decision for all involved. I was just curious how people were still undecided on the day decisions were do. I guess I was fortunate that my children have had strong hit feelings when looking at college choices and now BS

My daughter really wanted to go to all three revisits for the schools to which she was admitted, even though 2 were only in top contention through the process. Our last revist day was 4/8 and she decided 4/9. I felt badly for the admissions offices themselves and those waiting but that is how it played out. I think part of the waiting problem is the M10 notification date and then the schools go on vacation for 2 weeks. They want to have the admitted students come back and see the school “in action” and with school in session. But this tends to back end the process to, this year, the first 2 weeks of April.

Our local day schools annouce mid Feb. Applications are due earlier (before Christmas). I think it would make sense for all involved to be on a coordinated schedule.

Same here-our last revisit day was 4/8 and we also had 3 schools to choose from that were at the top of our list. There was no way we could have made an earlier decision. As it was out 1st revisit day was April 1st-3 weeks after M10.
