<p>There are many, but I'm not sure what that fact will do for you. At some schools a 3.7 is top 1%. There are many recruited athletes and development candidates with less than a 3.7. Olympic medal winners too.</p>
<p>If your question is how many unhooked 3.7s there are from average high schools, the answer is almost none.</p>
<p>suze is right -- each individual situation is different. If a 3.7 still puts you at the top of your class (top 5%), you have a chance. There are schools out there where a class of 300 kids has such grade inflation that the top 10% all have 4.0 unweighted GPAs. Top schools will look at a student with a 3.7 (or even a 3.9) from that school very differently than the school where a 3.7 is a top 1% student</p>
