hypsmc?

lol, even for MIT, there are only in total 150 college-bound USAMO seniors each year anyways, and MIT accepts like a thousand kids. USAMO is still quite rare.

i think what sup meant (maybe i'm wrong) was that your ECs, when compared to those applying to MIT/Caltech, don't really show as much passion as they could. and you're not nationally-ranked in phyisics or something. especially since it's MIT, they really liek to see some science and math personal state/national awards, and not just that you participated or your school won. it doesn't have to be USAMO but anything that shows passion in math/science. other htan that really i think you're fine...two varsity sports + lots of music ECs are good. most of it will depend on luck/essays. plus i see you're not just aiming for MIT/caltech, so if you get unlucky and don't get in, you're still applying to stanford and other top schools which don't focus as much on math and science.

oh and btw don't worry about something like band bringing down ur GPA. colleges will see that you're passionate about music and understand. besides, your GPA isn't most of what admins see...they don't just look at ur GPA and compare u to other ppl based on ur GPA. the classes you take are more important.

Ok, but like I said later, I made regional finals in Siemens. But I completely agree that the essays will be essential - I plan to spend a lot of time on them.

By the way, how important is Princeton's "recommended deadline" of Dec. 15?

So, should I scramble and try to get it sent off by the recommended deadline, or am I fine if I submit it by January?

Mentioning it won't hurt you.

Btw, people in CC simply amazes me...

so many clubs, 2 varsity sports, and band... Amazing time management... I could never pull it off.

lol @ the person who said his ECs are bad.

He obviously has no idea what he's talking about.
