I <3 Dartmouth, but will Dartmouth <3 me?

I'm a junior currently, and I recently went on college visits for Spring Break. On my trip, my parents brought me to basically every Ivy League school they could fit on the itinerary (despite my own apathetic repose, because I assumed I'd never get accepted to any of these schools, and probably just stay in state). However, on my trip I fell irrevocably in love with Dartmouth, and now am angsting about whether I can gain acceptance. De-stress me by assigning my raw stats an arbitrary chance of gaining me admission? k thanks : )

Gender: Female
Ethnicity: White
State: IL (suburb of Chicago)
HS: suuuuper diverse (economically, racially). we have crazy genius kids and chronic truants. we have bomb and gun scares and future ivy leaguers every year.
Class Rank: 1/900ish? we constantly have dropouts so it changes pahaha
GPA: 4.6 weighted (in illinois, mandatory p.e. prevents attaining anything much higher than this- basically i got one B so far in high school....in regular spanish. fantastic.)
SAT: 2250 (710 M, 740 CR, 800 W)
ACT: takin it april 28th ughhh
EC's:
-varsity gymnastics (co-captain next year, only 6 girls in my HS of 3500 make varsity each year)
-gymnastics all-academic
-student council (executive board secretary/treasurer next year)
-Link Crew Leader (freshman mentorship program)
-National Merit Semi-Finalist and hopefully finalist (i think i can assume the semi-finalist thing since i got a 229 on the PSAT)
-Math Team, 3rd place regionals in varsity partners contest
-HS rep. at county leadership conference
-30+ hours volunteering at local hospital
-Graduate of competitive local medical program for HS students, run by local doctor as his own form of a community service project.
-Participant in cadaver dissection at local college as part of my dual-credit anatomy/physiology class
-Co-leader of forum on bullying at local middle school (part of StuCo)
-During P.E. I work with Special Ed kids to adjust gym to their level
-Possibly working this summer as a part-time gymnastics coach
-PTA Reflections contest honorable mention at the State level

Course load: the usual diet of a bajillion ap's in the standard subjects. im pretty ahead in math, though (despite what my SAT's may reflect) I'm finishing up Calc BC this year and taking Multivariable Calc dual-credit with U of Illinois next year.

Ok, have at it kids- rip me apart- i can handle it ; )

God I hate you. It’d be cool and all if my resume was like that. Dartmouth’s an ivy, and it’s admissions are pretty turbulent. Looking at your app though, you seem to have a somewhat amazing chance. With great essays, I wouldn’t really know what would be keeping you out.

you’ve got to be kidding me i just replied to your thread!!! and it was the only one i commented on today haha this is our second coincidence (besides the SAT scores). thanks, though, i appreciate it for sure. and what are you even worried about, you’re pretty fantastic yourself. college is gonna be ridiculously fun regardless of where we end up anyway

Well yeah, but it’d always be better if you got into that one school you really wanted to go too. You’re well qualified by the standards of your dream school.

I think you’re going to have to bring up the SATs. Math advancement will be put in question by the score unfortunately. Good luck!!

Your SAT Math Score is still good, but statwise against others, it’s average. Regardless of such, you still are an impressive applicant. Where are the SAT II’s?

csokane: yeah, i guess you’re right. well, good luck to you

redroses: would the low SAT math be offset by a 35 on the ACT math? i’ve been scoring that pretty consistently and am takin the official ACT in a few weeks, so if i did well would it be necessary to take the SAT again?

Good luck to you too, and when they say bring up your SAT score up, it’s by cc’s standards. Depending on your major, writing or cr could weigh more, and if you look at the numbers, a 2250 is in the 99 percentile/top 13,000 out of 1.5 million college bound seniors.

MIThopeful16: the SAT II’s are still in the works…aka im takin them in june after AP season is over. i’m planning to take Math II and U.S. history. i’m not concerned about the math too much, because frankly i absolutely despise math. I’m only this advanced because they put me ahead when i was like 10 and i kept doing well. medecine and writing are my passions

Well, take the SAT II’s in subjects beneficial to you. SAT II Math is not necessary. If you’re planning to go into Medicine, take either the bio or chemistry Subject tests.

csokane: yeah, thanks for reminding me of that too. sometimes i feel like people here need a reality check; i can’t stand to see really intelligent kids getting down on themselves after viewing another 2400-scoring, valedictorian, hospital-building-in-tanzania kid self-criticize.

MIThopeful16: I would except I feel those are the only subjects for which I’m really prepared to test. At my school, we do freshman honors bio, sophomore honors chem, junior honors physics, and then senior year you choose to take one of those three subjects AP. our honors classes aren’t nearly enough preparation for an SAT subject test in the area, so I’m relegated to math and history since I’m in AP Calc BC and AP U.S. Hist this year.

Ok, that’s understandable. Good luck on the SAT IIs I take mine either the end of this year, or next year.

MIThopeful16: thanks, and good luck on yours too!
