Would anyone mind telling me what they think (Dartmouth)?

I’ve been coming on here for awhile and everyone is so nice, so I finally made an account.

I’m really nervous about (and losing hope over) having a chance at Dartmouth and I was hoping that someone wouldn’t mind chancing me. Just as a warning, be prepared for my SAT scores.

Unweighted GPA: 4.0/4.0
I took all the AP courses offered at my school, and I convinced my
guidance counselor to give me extra classes as well.
My school doesn’t rank us.

Extracurricular Activities and Volunteer Work:
Editor of school newspaper
Flutist
Girl Scout
Teaching Assistant
Daycare volunteer
EMT
Food pantry volunteer
Fundraising for an organization that helps in third-world countries (my own mission trip won’t be until the end of the school year though)
Hospital volunteer
Soup kitchen volunteer
Started a charity organization (it only just took-off though, because planning it out took me awhile)
Visiting nursing homes
I'm involved with other activities, but they’re all pretty similar to what I’ve already listed.

Awards: Bronze Award, a college book award (for service and for academics it says), and lots of school awards (but I don’t think those will matter).

Other:
School Type- Public
Ethnicity- Caucasian
Gender- Female

Scores:
I had to save them for last, because they’re just so shameful.
SAT Reasoning Test- CR (680), M (560), W (680)
SAT Subject Tests- Literature (720), U.S. History (600)
I’m re-taking every one of these tests, but I’m not expecting much (there’s no excuse, but I just can’t seem to control my nerves- taking it under official conditions at school, but just for practice, I get a perfect score each time. I really hope this isn’t proof that I’m not Dartmouth material).

I appreciate your input. Thanks so much!

Without the test scores, you have pretty generic activities without awards to show for that much. Unless you can raise your SAT to 2100+ and get another subject test over 700, chances are slim.

Thank you for your feedback! I was afraid that would be the case; I needed to hear from someone else though (you). Good luck with your own colleges (if your applying this year), I’m sure you’ll do great.

Why don’t you try the ACT? Or are you a senior?
Could you talk to a physician about a little bit of propranolol-a blood pressure medicine used to treat performance anxiety. It isn’t an enhancer, just keeps the heart from racing. I have prescribed it for musicians and a few others who were so nervous they felt physically ill on these occasions, with good results.I wouldn’t consider it cheating in any way.

I agree that if nerves are the problem, there are many approaches to try including some natural ones like meditation. Dartmouth, like all top schools, is very score oriented.

Yeah you need to raise the scores. Maybe try the ACT?
