hey everyone!!

I finally found the duke forum!! I just wanted to put it out there how much I love duke!! :)

and question...I think they're advisors for medical school (sorry not sure the exact wording/name) is really unique and awesome. But I wonder do any of you know about it in depth?? Unfortunately, I've only heard of it and would like more details.

thanks a lot!! :) and good luck to everyone esp the ED!!

their*
haha grammar

well the premed/prehealth advisors definitely know what they're doing. duke has a lot of premeds and a very high percentage get into medical school, so the advisors know what's up. I haven't met with them officially yet, but I have had contact with a couple to ask some basic questions and they seemed very knowledgeable.

hey that's cool thanks ay_caramba!! but I thought they didn't have pre-meds and that's why there were medical advisors instead?? Or that's what I thought their site said??

Well, premed is not a major; you have to major in something else. Premed just refers to people that are doing the premed requirements (1 year gen chem, 1 year orgo, 1 year bio, etc.) in an effort to go to med school after duke. This necessarily means that the premed advisors are different from your major advisor (since you will need to be advised in both your major requirements and getting into med school)

I'm not sure I understand your question though.

hey ay_caramba!!

sorry for the confusion. so at every college, students that want to go to med school must follow the pre-med requirements correct?? I guess what I was asking was that I had thought Duke was unique by providing pre-med advisors which other schools do not have

Perhaps I am completely wrong and a lot of other colleges have these premed advisors as well?? Sorry if I was just completely mistaken!! :) and thanks for the clarification!!
