I ACCIDENTALLY JOINED A BIBLE GROUP AND CAN'T GET OUT

I say accidentally because when the people who walked up to invite me to their club they called it something else. For privacy reasons I’ll call it “Wonder” club but the name of the club was very similar. So they came up to me and said hey wanna check out our wonder club? And it sounds harmless so I was all yeah sure why not.

And I get there and it’s a BIBLE DISCUSSION, it was like it was a trap omfg. Like I wouldn’t have mind if they told me what it was first, and I am Catholic but you know, I’m not super into studying the bible and I’m not trying to go to every person and tell them about it.

Anyway, they have my number and they texted me to “hang out” and I thought that was harmless too but turns out it was a study!

They want me to read chapters and dissect the bible and study for hours and honestly it’s like taking up another class. They’re really nice and I wanna be friends with them but the only way I can it seems is to keep going to these time consuming discussions.

How do I get out of it?

Just say thank you for inviting me and you don’t have time for this club right now. Simple as that.

I always run away from them when they come to my college. wakak.
If i want to join, i will join. No need to push me into it.

As a Catholic, you carry a lot of guilt about hurting people’s feelings.

Run to your nearest volunteer club-tours of the campus, campus medical center, etc.
