I am a freshman at a CCC and I just got a C in Calculus I. Do I give up?

I’ve spent the past ten hours or so researching this topic, in the end I received a wide variety of responses so I decided I would create my own thread. Unfortunately, due to a variety of circumstances, I received a single C my first semester in Calc 1. Unfortunately, this is a 5 unit course. However, I received A/s in all my other classes. I actually want to die right now for not withdrawing, anyway, has this stripped me of all potential to transfer to UCB within the next two years? I would like to transfer as CS major as well. I plan on receiving straight for the rest of college, as I have now cut back on my workload significantly to study more. If there is any hope of success, I will plan on continuing up the Calculus series to redeem myself. Also, do you guys know of any methods to remedy such an unfortunate situation?

Thank you for any helpful responses.

Continue on and work toward As in next math levels. The UCs look at progression. Then when you apply you can explain the C: bit off more than I could chew, family issues, work, transition. Whatever.
It’s not the end of the world at all.

Remember also that CS is widely offered among UCs and CSUs, so it is not the end of the world if you do not get into UCB when you transfer.
